Hi Everyone,
I was wondering what solution works best for everyone to run dos based bbs games?

Ive been using dosemu2 on linux with mixed success.. some games work and some dont.. but its pretty hit or miss.

Ive also gotten some games to work using dosbox-x and doornode on linux where they dont work under dosemu2

what works best for most of you?

i would just run a windows 32bit vm and run your bbs on that.
all my bbses run on a linux server and they are vms.

what works best for most of you?

I'm running my BBS in Linux and I also use dosemu2. I've found very few DOS door games that don't work well in dosemu2; it was just a few trivia games that were taking up a lot of CPU time for some reason and appeared slow or almost frozen. I ended up replacing those with something different. Otherwise I haven't had much trouble with dosemu2. I didn't know dosbox-x could be used for this purpose (I didn't know dosbox-x could communicate with Synchronet to send output to the user).

Actually, im using something called Doornode to facilitate that..which uses dosbox-x, its working well with ubuntu linux and ive gotten some games to run which dont work under dosemu2 - specificaly Esterian Conquest, where i was getting a Runtime Error 008 when running nightly maintence... and i found that some other games are working well.. i.e tradwars 2002

I use the original dosemu on Linux and haven't had trouble with any
doors, although I haven't tried to run Tradewars (ver?), which I've heard doesn't play with with original dosemu.

I run dosemu2 on debian and I have several dos doors working fine..

Maybe some door need special tunning.

Which door isn't working for you?

I'd be interested to know which games don't work under DosEMU2 because all the 100+ doors I have tried are working, including some that didn't work with the original DosEMU.
